DIY Lavender Sugar Scrub Recipe

Do you have any scents that you thought you just hated but after a few years you realized you were wrong? For example, I thought I always hated lavender. Yes, lavender! Lavender has got to be one of those scents that pretty much everyone on the planet enjoys, yet I grew up disliking it.

Now as the years went on and I got into making my own skincare products, I was introduced to lavender again…only this time I was introduced to the real deal… Apparently most of the lavender I had been exposed to in my early years was the fake stuff.

Real lavender smells a bit different and doesn’t overwhelm my senses like the fake stuff does. So now I find that I actually do enjoy lavender.

Lavender is known for it’s relaxing properties. It’s the first choice for most people when it comes to calming down and sleeping. However, lavender does much more than that or rather should I say that just like it can calm down your mind, it can also calm down your skin. Because lavender is anti-inflammatory it can help soothe and calm your skin which is great for anyone dealing with irritated or red skin. Lavender can also help dry skin become softer which naturally is perfect with you are making an exfoliating DIY lavender sugar scrub!

In addition to lavender, I like to use jojoba oil for this scrub. Jojoba oil mimics your skin’s collagen and it’s one of the closest oils to your own skin’s natural oils (sebum). It’s a natural pick for any and all skin types and just like lavender, it’s also an anti-inflammatory!

Certified organic jojoba oil is a wonderful team player in that while it is wonderfully moisturizing (great for those with dry skin), it is also helpful for those with oily skin because it can trick our skin into thinking its produced enough sebum and thus less oil on our skin. Jojoba Oil is a pretty impressive oil for all skin types!

  1. This sugar scrub is so pretty! I bet it smells lovely, lavender is so great! I’ve got to make this for my skin soon.

  2. I absolutely hate fragrance style lavender, then I grew my own. It is a beautiful scent. I usually do not mess with it because the bees love it, but if they allow to take a little, I might just try this.

  3. Love making scrubs with great ingredients and herbs like lavender. Lavender is also uplifting. Calming + Uplifting herbs are “amphoterics”. Our body uses them for what is needed — when we take internally, that is..
Definitely calming in skincare products! Here’s to Lavender. So glad you use this wonderful plant ally in your products!
