Bowl of cooling soft leg mask with lemons - Pronounce Skincare and Herbal Boutique

Cooling Soft Leg Mask

Are you feeling the heat?

It’s full on summer time here in the U.S. and you can bet we’re doing everything we can to stay cool! Think sipping on iced margaritas and wearing big hats with sunglasses. And there’s nothing like a long dip in the pool or ocean to cool off.

Problem with those last two...the high concentration of chlorine in swimming pools and salt in the ocean can leave our legs dry and scaly. Ugh!

When you’ve got all the cute sundresses and short shorts to wear this summer that’s the last thing you want, right? So how do we stay cool and have soft legs?

Our cooling soft leg mask is exactly what you need in your life (even if you didn't know that you need it). Seriously, whip those dry legs into shape fast...with only 5 easy steps! - Pronounce Skincare & Herbal Boutique #softlegs #coolingsoftlegmask #legmask #drylegs

Show Your Legs Some LOVE!

We came up with the greatest beauty hack since plumping lip scrubs! Oh yes, you can show your legs some love with a cooling leg mask made with ingredients to even your skin tone, gently exfoliate, remove dead skin cells, and moisturize for a softness you can feel.

Supplies/Ingredients

Tools:

  • Small glass mixing bowl
  • Beauty spatula (optional, but nice to have around, and this bamboo facial care set is adorable!)

Wet Ingredients:

How To Make It

Like most masks, it starts with amazing mineral rich clay - a beautifying ingredient loved by the Ancient Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians to pull toxins from the skin. We choose French green clay *the powerhouse of the clay world* containing magnesium, iron, silica, calcium, and sodium.

Next, we added matcha powder for its high antioxidant levels and abilities to reduce inflammation. Quite needed if your legs are sunburned, too (although, you know how your sunburn feels better than anyone else...lemon can be cooling). Dead sea salt was a no-brainer to add for gentle exfoliation, as well as cooling peppermint leaf.

After we blended the dry ingredients together we added moisturizing vegetable glycerin, *THE* secret ingredient to all things soft! We included lemon essential oil (or lemon juice) to brighten the skin tone and reduce sun spots caused by UV damage (source). Then we topped it off with the minty fresh peppermint essential oil effective against 91% fungi growth and 22 bacteria strains (source) Ya know, because bare feet and public loungers...need we say more? We also opted for cooling lemon essential oil.

Learn How to Get Smooth Legs in just 5 Steps

Step 1: Cleanse

When comes to just about any beauty treatment, we should always start with clean skin. So lather up some creamy body wash and cleanse your legs first (try this all natural "summer rain" recipe or this kokum butter recipe).

Step 2: How to Use Your Leg Mask

We found that a full batch covered both legs and then some. We suggest that you start by pulling out half of this recipe and combining it with a small amount of water. Stir until you get a thick, but spreadable paste. Next, apply to your legs. It will be dark green when applied. Find something fun to do! Grab a glass of wine, a trashy magazine (lol), and simply wait for a little while. You'll know it's time to wash your leg mask off when the paste turns from dark to light green and feels tight. Just rinse away and bask in the glory of your super soft legs. Ahhhhhhh...

NOTE: You'll want to use this up within a week or so. Store tightly in an airtight jar until the next use, when you activate it by adding water to make your paste.

(If you’re soaking in the bath, cross your legs and rest your feet up on the side or opposite end of the bathtub. That said, we suggest allowing yourself a few minutes prior to taking a bath to indulge in this cooling soft leg mask as you'll be able to completely cover your legs this way).

Step 3: Exfoliate

Now it’s time to exfoliate! This step sloughs away dead skin cells and allows for a closer shave. Ultimately, adding up smoother legs.

Use a sea sponge to gently scrub the mask into your skin. Work in a circular motion and thoroughly rinse.

Step 4: Shave

When comes to removing hair on your legs opt for shaving cream not soap! Our recipe for ultra creamy shaving cream is made with shea butter and coconut oil to soften skin and hair making it easier to shave. It also adds a layer of protection from the razor, which decreases the opportunity for nicks and cuts.

Step 5: Moisturize

When you step out of the bath or shower, slather on a great moisture. Pick up a body butter in the Pronounce Skincare Shop or make your own such as our herb-infused body butter.

  1. This looks like a great recipe and I’d like to try it! Do you know if subbing spearmint for the peppermint would have a similar effect?
