This easy, all-natural face powder helps control shine, softens skin, and gives a lightweight, natural finish. Customizable for all skin tones, it’s made with just five ingredients and takes minutes to whip up.
Spice grinder or coffee grinder
Airtight container - jar or powder sifter
Measuring spoons
Mixing bowl - optional
Clean makeup brush or powder puff for application
Base: 2-3 Tablespoons Arrowroot powder 1/4-3 Teaspoons Cacao powder - adjust to match skin tone 1-3 Teaspoons Zinc oxide - non-nano, uncoated (optional, for SPF & skin-soothing) Tone Adjustments: 1/16-1/4 Teaspoon Ground cinnamon or nutmeg - optional, for color depth 3-5 Drops Vitamin E oil - non-GMO (optional, for preservation)
Note: Below the recipe card you will find exact ingredient amounts based on your skin tone! Add all dry ingredients to a clean spice grinder.
Pulse in short bursts until the mixture is silky and evenly combined.
Add Vitamin E oil (if using) and pulse again briefly.
Carefully transfer the powder to a clean, dry storage container.
Test a small amount on your skin and adjust cacao or cinnamon as needed to match your tone.
Store in a cool, dry place away from moisture and light.

Be careful not to inhale powders, especially zinc oxide. Wear a mask or cover your face with your shirt while mixing.

To make a translucent version, omit cacao and cinnamon entirely.
